Nicole and Eric, who have known each other since middle school, planned their destination wedding in Maui at Olawalu Plantation House. The couple knew they wanted to spend more than one day celebrating with their favorite people, so they gathered their families and friends in Hawaii for their seaside ceremony and reception. Planner Maui’s Angels created a day filled with casual elegance and subtle tropical vibes. We love the soft, romantic white florals and greenery by Mandy Grace and the little pops of blue in the event paper and groom’s linen suit are perfection. Lucky for us Angie Diaz was behind the lens capturing in all in these lovely images.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Our close friends and family together for a week. As a designer, getting to design all of my invites, gifts, thank yous, etc.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
The gown was sleek and covered in lace with a creamy under layer. My best friend arranged the dress shopping location with all my friends and family. It was the first dress I tried on at the first shop. My girlfriend kept asking if I was going to cry when I went dress shopping, I laughed and said no, but i totally did.
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
My husband and mine’s best friend, Dillon, married us, we’ve all been friends since middle school and have had so many memories together.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
First look, and seeing my dad cry when I was dressed. Having dinner with my family and friends with Marvin Trevaga playing.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met in middle school and attended the same high school. We began dating after high school and have been together 10 years. We were invited to the Magic Castle for the first time by my husband’s client, Michael. It was the first time I had every seen a magic trick in person. It was magical place and so amazing that I talked about it for weeks. The following year we met Michael again at the Magic Castle for a “special event for a magazine” however, I didn’t know I was a part of the trick. He does a lot of slight of hand illusions and at the end of one of his tricks he does with coins, he had a ring box appear.
