I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

I’m excited to share with you some of my recent styling adventures! Today 31 Bits is launching an exclusive line of limited edition pieces. To celebrate the creation, illustrator and designer Dallas Shaw joined us in the studio to model! Dallas is crazy talented and has so much style, so it was very inspiring to work with her! We coined her look “boho glam” and I think it turned out pretty perfect. A little mix-n-match with pattern and sequins. Total win, right?

And yes, that’s the very first 31 Bits clutch! I die.

We think you will too.

This weekend, our parents are throwing us an engagement party! We are super excited to drink a little bubbly with our family and friends and celebrate whilst dressed up (my favorite thing to do). Since it’s officially fall (even though the California weather does NOT feel like it), I thought it would be fun to incorporate the season! We’ll be sharing the actual images of the party with you afterward, but I thought you might enjoy a little sneak peak at the inspiration!

The plaid invites are an actual picture of what we sent out! My dearest MaeMae Paperie designed it just for us. That’s also an actual picture of the same wool blanket I found to cover our bar area. The furniture below is the actual selection we made from Found Vintage Rentals! And we really are having Room Forty create a fromage station (plus tons of other delish hors d’oeuvres). I’m still on the hunt for a perfect dress, but I found a really great plaid shirt/tie combo for Bryan. (Boys are so much easier to shop for! Lucky!). Can’t wait to see how it turns out! (I could definitely see this turned into wedding inspiration–oh how I love fall weddings!).

Did or would you have an engagement party? We’d love to hear how you celebrated (or plan to celebrate one day!).

The fall line for 31 Bits just released and our crew might agree that it’s our favorite yet (but we say that every time). For styling, we went with a very chic, glam feel with lots of great texture like fur, sequins, denim, linen, and silk. As far as the color palette, I’m beyond obsessed with how these all look together–gun metal grey, navy, copper, gold, and sea foam green. If you follow Grey on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, then you already know, but I am so beyond excited to share with you all that Bryan proposed last Thursday evening! We took a hike to celebrate my birthday and we brought along some wine, popcorn, and a blanket, in order to enjoy the sunset. I’ve known we were pretty close to engagement for a while, so of course, like the sneaky girl I am, I was HOPING that it would happen. Well, as we overlooked an incredible view of Crystal Cove, we sat there for over an hour just talking and soaking in the moment. It was so romantic but all I could think was, “Why isn’t he proposing??? Come on!” (Pic above, he hasn’t proposed as the sun dips further and further beyond the horizon!)

Well, after we finished our wine, finished our snack, and the sun was almost completely set, we finally starting prepping to leave. I gave up hoping it would happen and began mentally preparing myself to wait even longer. I leaned forward to take one last picture of the sunset and I heard him move to start packing. Instead, he was getting on his knee! He told me he had one more birthday surprise and when I turned around, there he was proposing! He actually managed to catch me completely off guard so, of course I immediately broke out into tears, and we sat there laughing and crying (me) and taking tons of pictures! (Pic above is the last shot of the sunset! Pic below is me absolutely in tears!)

It was completely our style–romantic, intimate, and beautiful!

Afterward, we walked down the trail in the dark while I called family and friends. Our night ended in old town Orange, where we met up with two of my three sisters, brothers-in-law, and some close friends for a bottle of champagne and celebration! We’ve spent all weekend celebrating, and I’ve been collecting our champagne corks for a really fun DIY project that I plan on sharing with you. (Dark pic below of my two sisters, although it’s not really official until we’re all together in a pic!)

Speaking of, one of the things I’m most excited about is the chance to share with you our wedding journey! There’s something special about being able to relate on such a personal level, so I’m beyond excited to walk the journey with you!

A few months ago, I had the privilege of styling for one of my favorite film photographers, Ryan Ray. Because he’s based out of Texas, it made it that more exciting to finally meet him and get the chance to work together. We decided to rethink the format of an inspiration shoot and this time focus on fashion! We were so happy to hear that Mag Rouge selected our shoot as a feature in their newest issue, so you must head there to see their story (and the rest of the features–always such a beautiful publication!). Today on the blog, I thought it would be fun to share a little “behind the scenes” insight to get a perspective on how I go about styling these shoots!

The goal for this shoot was to show how you can have fun with your bridal party–and how much fashion can really add to the overall look of the big day. To give us some initial direction, I fell hard for the combination of blush pink, kelly green, and stripes of navy. It has a Florida vibe to it all, so to emphasize that feel, I thought that we’d find some ways to incorporate contrasting patterns, like our floral dress and stripes as well as pops of gold. Flamingos and pineapples in the stationery suite by Elaine of Paper Made Design added to that Florida concept and helped reinforce the relationship between the contrasting dresses. Our bridesmaids are decked out in last spring’s dresses from H&M (floral print), Nautica via Macy’s (striped), J. Crew (kelly green), and Zara (pink peplum). The groom is showing off a variety of fun combinations from H&M.

For wedding dresses, we headed off to The White Dress in Corona del Mar, where we borrowed a gorgeous Lazaro (the white) and Watters (the blush) dress. For extra style, went BIG on hair. Our hair stylist Dianna Lopez also used what’s normally a dress accessory by Renee Pawele and turned it into a show stopping hair piece. I die. The soft and romantic makeup by Amy Clarke works beautifully with the whole look. The lush florals by Nancy of Oak and the Owl include garden roses, peonies and touches of fresh mint–perfectly refreshing for a warm weather wedding.

I hope you love the look as much as we do. We’d love to know–would you ever consider something this daring for your bridal party?
