Today’s real wedding in Santa Barbara featured some super creative cinder block centerpieces that I totally adore for a rustic outdoor wedding. The absurdly creative ladies over at Bash, Please put together a DIY cinder block project that I thought I’d share with you if you want to make the look your own. Check out more from the Bash, Please ladies here.

We think you will too.
As we saw from today’s real wedding, nautical doesn’t need to mean navy blue. If you are planning a beach wedding here are a few ideas I love.
1. Seashell name cards. What makes them better? Ombre glitter and metallic painted shells (with tassels!). You can find some great tutorials here and here!
2. Twigs and Honey. That headpiece?? Need I say more?
3. Sea Urchin ring by Star of the East. How great would that be for a glam beach wedding?
4. That boat shot? DREAMY pretty shot by Millie Holloman.
Often times, handmade gifts are some of the most thoughtful ones you’ll ever give and receive. There’s something about putting a little time and creativity into a present that makes it that much more meaningful. I recently revamped my own bathroom and used some empty Lorina bottles I had lying around for bath salts and bubbles. They turned out so cute, that I’ve now given them as gifts on a few occasions. I thought I’d share the idea with you, along with a how-to, which you can find below!

These little guys are SO easy to make. Here’s how to create your own:
1. Purchase as many Lorina bottles as you’ll be needing. I always find them at BevMo.
2. Enjoy your lemonade!!! If you’re hosting a shower, now is the perfect time to stock up on these little guys and use them at the event. At least you won’t be wasting delish sparkling lemonade!
3. Soak your bottles in water for 20 minutes or so–just long enough for the labels to slip right off! Give them a good wash and rinse!
4. Fill with your choice of milk bath, epsom salts, and/or bubble bath. (Many discount stores often times carry bulk quantities of bubble bath, so you can fill more than one bottle with a pretty minimal purchase!)
5. Add your choice of ribbon to the neck. (MJ Trim has our yellow and white grosgrain version available online). I always use lone earrings as my pin.
6. Affix your label! If you like my Milk and Honey design, you can download print-at-home labels here. I use a 3″ diameter Marvy Uchida circle craft punch to cut these out perfectly. They’re usually available at Michael’s or you can buy one online here.
Here’s a late afternoon snack full of bright summery inspiration. I love all the bold colors and would DIE to see a wedding in this sort of motif!
Sources left to right, top to bottom: 1. Zara (why don’t they let the U.S. purchase online??? It’s killing me!) 2. Strawberry Peach Vodka Collins Popsicles from Endless Summer 3. Oliphant (via MaeMae Paperie) 4. Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade from Annie’s Eats 5. Martha Stewart DIY Paper Lanterns
We’ve got so many more lovely images to share with you from our Shoot This Not That Workshop. First up, I thought I’d share with you images of The Collection Event Studio. We spent some time shooting their space before breakfast, and couldn’t stop ourselves from oohing and ahhing over all their thoughtful details. They hosted our class time and it was the perfect space to talk weddings!

In response to our class time, I wanted to share with you what one of our attendees, Lori Paladino, had to say about the experience:
I had seen my work published, so I thought I had that figured out! I just knew I was often too busy to submit. To be honest, when I signed up I thought, “Well, this will be a fun day to be creative and capture a few pointers.”
But WOW, I feel like I gained a whole new level of insight and the bar has been raised – yet again! I am officially humbled! I had no idea that I would walk away with so much great information. I pretty much hate and am embarrassed by all my detail shots right now, but seriously, I love it. That of course is the real gift; having done this for long enough, there are times that it is easy to become complacent. It’s wonderful and humbling and so good to continue to be challenged–even better when the challenge comes with extra insights as well. Who doesn’t want to be well equipped to face the next challenge?!!
We’ve got some plans in the works for another workshop pretty soon, so keep your ear to the ground. Announcement coming soon!
Check back in later today for more inspiration from our shoot, plus some great shots of our wine dinner!
