When nature-lovers, Yushan and Womo, were scouting for the perfect Bay Area location for their wedding venue, they witnessed deer crossing their path at Wedgewood Crystal Springs and decided that it was the right place for their big day. Their outdoor ceremony capitalized on the breathtaking views of the location and their reception was highlighted by nature-driven details like and adorable animal-centric naked cake. Pink accents in the bridal party and the florals by Rosedale Floral Design and a stunning landscape are all captured to perfection in these lovely images by Kristine Herman Photography.
What made the wedding special and unique?
I would say the friends and families who came to our wedding made our wedding special. My family live far away (Taiwan) and they flew 16 hours to be here for us. Three of my best high school friends flew from NY, and Womo’s big family are mostly from Minneapolis & Alabama and they also flew to San Francisco. It was really nice to have them around us on this special day! I’m very thankful. Of course I’m also pretty proud of myself that did all the design and planning myself; all those handmade projects made the wedding unique.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I started doing my gown shopping three months before the wedding date which is very late! At the time I was pretty stressed out because I’ve gone to many places but still couldn’t find my perfect dress. My sweet co-worker Emily saw that and asked if I wouldn’t mind trying on her wedding dress. The dress was just beautiful!! I fell in love with the dress as soon as I put it on! Emily was so sweet to give her dress to me, and she was really happy that her dress could have a second life! My sister has already asked me to pass the dress down to her. I believe a beautiful dress like this deserves to be worn more than once. Thank you so much Emily!!
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
We saw deer at our wedding venue the first time we were there! With that beautiful view, we immediately decided this is where we want to get married. So, from the beautiful antlers on the gazebo, to the centerpiece and wedding cake; all around things that we love— nature and animals.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
Every moment of that day was memorable…it was magical.
Engagement Story from the photographer:
It was one of those at the right place, at the right time type of meetings. Fate as some people would call it. There was a get together for students, and Womo decided to go, even though he wasn’t technically a student, and that’s where he met Yushan. He knew he wanted to make their engagement special and came up with an idea that described the two of them perfectly. As described by Womo, Yushan might forget where she placed a thing or two and he decided to play with that. He had given her a promise ring before and asked her why she never wears it anymore. So Yushan went on a hunt for the ring and when she found it in the bathroom, Womo had switched it with an engagement ring! He then proposed right then and there and she said yes!
