I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Ally and Taylor met in high school but had few memories of each other when they reconnected years later. Within two weeks of dating Taylor told Ally he loved her and that they would be getting married—about which he was 100% correct. Months later, the couple celebrated their big day at The Kelley Farm with close family, friends, their faith and a beautiful barn wedding and brunch.  Ally attributes much of the design success to the rentals from The Meaningful Details and we’re into the pastel florals by Paisley Petals. Check it all out in these images by B. Jones Photography who was on hand to capture the joy of the day.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Our wedding was special to us because it was centered around our faith. Our relationship with God is the most important thing in our life, and it was an amazing blessing to have our family and friends together with us to celebrate. Being able to bring people together from all different backgrounds and faiths, all people whom we love is not something we have the privilege of doing very often. There was a time when we considered making the ceremony something that would be more vanilla, and a little less focused on our faith, but we chose to stick to what was important to us. We wanted to make sure our ceremony was true to who we are and our beliefs, and it was so special to be able to share our wedding day with the people who are most important to us.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

Looking back at the gown I wore for our wedding, I’m not surprised I fell in love with it. It was everything I could have hoped to find. I always envisioned our wedding being classic and timeless, something where wouldn’t look back at the photos and wonder, “what the heck were we thinking?!” I fell in love with the Pronovias brand after seeing many of their dresses online. I was excited when I found a boutique shop in town that carried the Pronovias line. I went to MeaMarie Bridal Atelier in Kirkland, WA with my mom and we loved everything about it. It was beautiful, chic, and has an overwhelming sense of ‘bridal’ which I really appreciated. There’s only one time I’ll be getting a wedding dress for myself, and I was ready to soak it all up! Rachelle, the attendant at the shop, brought me a beautiful selection of dresses to try on. I originally thought I wanted something with lace, and I quickly found I did not like the way it looked on me. When I tried on the Pronovias Tatiana gown, I was blown away by its simplicity and elegance. It quickly became a favorite of all of ours, but I didn’t want to purchase anything right away and end up with buyer’s remorse. I let a couple days go by, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful the gown was! That weekend my mom and I went back to MeaMarie and let them know I had found my dress!

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

We found this amazing woman, Dawn, who really helped our wedding vision come to life! Dawn owns The Meaningful Details in Bonney Lake, WA and has the most amazing decor rentals! I didn’t want to end up with a bunch of wedding decor that I would probably never use again and end up trying to sell anyway, so I was overjoyed to find Dawn. We rented a ton of vintage picture frames from her to use for different signage, to have wedding photos of our family generations, and photos of Taylor and I around the reception area.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Leading up to the wedding Taylor and I talked numerous times about whether or not we would cry. Our first look was so special and the anticipation of it was overwhelming. I was so excited to see Taylor. When I walked over to him behind the barn he turned around and it truly was the most unforgettable moment as we embraced one another. I assumed Taylor would be somewhat emotional, but he bawled. To know someone loves you so much and also knowing you get to spend the rest of your life together creating memories and a legacy together, it’s truly the best feeling in the world. In that moment, it all hit us both that we were about to embark on the most amazing journey.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Taylor and I actually met many years ago while in high school. However, we only had a few memories of each other up until April of 2016. Today we laugh thinking about how hilarious it would be to go back in time and tell our high school selves that we would be getting married. Neither of us would have believed it, nor would any of our friends. Taylor was two grades below me and was, what some might refer to as a punk, class-clown type whose charm happened to be his saving grace. I was much more reserved, spent my days playing soccer and was never an issue for my teachers.

We lost track of each other over time as I took off for college and Taylor began his career immediately following high school. After nearly eight years of no communication, one night Taylor felt compelled to reach out to me over Facebook. We ended up messaging each other for a few weeks and despite my traditionally patient nature, I got tired of just chatting and requested that Taylor finally ask me out on a date.

We didn’t waste any time getting to know one another. From early on, our conversations included talking about the big stuff. The kind of stuff that might scare people away early on in a dating relationship. We bonded over our passion for God and as the days went by, it became more and more clear to us that our re-connection was not just mere happenstance or coincidence, but a divine intervention.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much Taylor had grown and changed over the years. I learned that he too has a burning desire to achieve great success in life. He has an amazing heart and curiosity for people, places, and things like no one else I had ever met. We spent many days and nights having so much fun getting to know one another and learning about what was important to each other. No more than two weeks into dating did Taylor tell me he loved me, followed by letting me know that we would be getting married.

Fast forward to October 2016, Taylor and I were ready for our life to begin together. Taylor respectfully met with my parents and my older brother, and asked each of them for their blessing to marry me. They all were overjoyed at his request and then it was time for the proposal.

I had plans to go to brunch with my mom on a Sunday morning in October before an afternoon we had planned together. I woke up late and only had time to hop in the shower before my mom was going to stop by my house and pick me up. Hair and makeup was going to have to wait for later. My mom urged we had reservations that we could not miss that morning, and looking good did not seem like a priority at the time. As we got to brunch I could tell something was up with my mom, but didn’t think much of it. She began to tell me a story about how the neighbors had all been receiving weird mail. Hanging onto every word she spoke, I hesitantly accepted an envelope with my name on it from her. If my neighbors were getting weird mail, I thought, “what the heck could this be?!” As I opened the letter, I realized it was a very sweet note from Taylor. At first I didn’t think too much of it because he had left me notes many times before. However, at the end of his note, I started thinking, “oh my gosh, maybe he is proposing sometime today!”

Right after I finished reading the letter, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and there was Taylor! At this point, I knew a proposal was about to happen. Our table was against the windows overlooking part of downtown, and the tables surrounding us were filled with other guests. Taylor took my hand, I got up to my feet and he began telling me all the things he loved about me. He placed my hand on his chest to feel his heartbeat—Taylor is not one to get nervous, but his heart was nearly exploding out of his chest. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. In that moment, all of the other people in the restaurant seemed to fade away as I said “yes!”

The moment Lizzy and Mark set eyes on the forest at the Ritz Carlton, Lake Oconee, they knew it was the one. “The smell of the pine trees with glimmers of the lake sparkling” set the tone while incredible floral displays by Designs by Kent added romance and whimsey. The robust arbor, cascading floral chandelier and textural bouquets are amazing and you can check it all out in these images by Willett Photography.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Our venue, the forest at the Ritz Carlton, Lake Oconee, really set the tone for the whole day!  From the first time we saw it, we knew we had to be married there.  The smell of the pine trees with glimmers of the lake sparkling in the background are just pure bliss!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I found it at Kelly’s Closet in Candler Park!  It was the first dress the truly felt myself in.  I knew I had to have it.  The gorgeous intricate but eclectic lace just sealed the deal.  I didn’t know if I was going to wear the off the shoulder straps for the wedding, but I’m so glad I did, I feel like they really help make the dress.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Our vendors really went above and beyond to make us feel special and comfortable the whole day.  Everything from the dreamy setting, to the beautiful lounge furniture and seating arrangement, the artist painting under the pine trees, along with some great music and the people we love the most in the world truly made it unforgettable.  Oh, and a late night snack was pretty amazing after dancing the night away!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Watching everyone enjoy themselves. Mother Nature really showed off and let everyone truly enjoy the gorgeous surroundings.

Stephanie and Mark’s rooftop reception at The Cape offered a 360-degree view of Cabo and a stunning sunset-inspired color palette for a beach-front celebration coordinated by About Love and captured by Ana and Jerome. We’re loving the colors of the tablescape accented by soft, feminine florals by Florenta. The overall look is the perfect blend for the bride who appreciates both the textural elegance of a European reception and all the scenery of a destination wedding.

What made the wedding special and unique?

It’s really hard to pinpoint what was so special about our wedding because everything felt special to us! The intimate rooftop with a 360 degree view of Cabo where our reception was held is a good start. The location and views from the The cape hotel in Cabo is just to die for. We didn’t want our wedding to be typical and we made a lot of choices based on making the experience enjoyable for our guests.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I found the Monique Lhuillier gown at Bridal Galleria in San Francisco. It’s definitely not what I had in mind but the second I put it on I fell in love with its ethereal feel and how comfortable it was.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

We had an amazing violinist and guitarist duo for a few hours, but after that our very close friend DJ’ed the party.  So before the wedding we carefully curated the playlist to be a solid mix of dance music interspersed with classic vocals and eclectic tunes everyone could enjoy.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

Most memorable part of the day was definitely saying I do. Our amazing friend Steve officiated the wedding for us and he did such a great job!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Mark and I met through friends but he knew about me for about a year before he got the chance to actually meet me. When we met we definitely had an instant connection. He proposed when we were in London for New Year’s Eve 4 years exactly after the day we met.

Savannah and Nick chose the cozy, elegance of Mount Hope Farm for their wedding venue and it was the bride’s mother—a 20-year-wedding-industry-veteran—who handled the rest. The rich autumnal tones of the day are exquisite and highlighted by romantic blooms and decor by Stoneblossom Floral and Event Design. This one is perfectly inspiring for the season and we’re thrilled to share the stunning images by Erin McGinn.

From the bride, Savannah: After dating for seven years Nick and I immediately knew we wanted our wedding day to reflect us as a couple, while allowing us to celebrate with those that are nearest and dearest to us. We’re from Rhode Island and Boston respectively, but currently live in Colorado, so planning from afar was not without its challenges. Thankfully my mom has worked in the wedding industry for over 20 years and put together an all star cast of vendors for us. Through the planning never once did we worry about the day being anything sort of spectacular.

From the moment we visited we knew Mount Hope Farm was the perfect setting for us. The property is intimate, cozy, and elegant at the same time, and we loved that our wedding party was able to stay on site, to maximize the time we all had together. We held the ceremony at the church I grew up in, a place which holds incredible significance to my family, and to Nick and I.

Nick and I are both huge “foodies,” but being pescatarian, we challenged ourselves to come up with a menu that would stay true to who we are, but also be delicious for our guests. Russell Morin Fine Catering absolutely delivered, from the incredible spread of passed hors d’oeuvres, to a family style meal of roasted salmon and butternut squash ravioli for dinner, complete with fresh mini donuts for the end of the night.

After dinner we had my grandparents open the dance floor, a great way to honor their 65+ years of marriage, and their tradition of always owning the dance floor!

What made the wedding special and unique?

Because my parents owned a catering business and my mom has worked in the industry for over 30 years, many of our vendors were family friends that they have worked with for decades. It made me so proud to see the reputation my parents had built in the industry, and how our wedding was a true labor of love for these vendors. So many of them went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was special not just for my husband and I, but our whole family.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I was very nervous about wedding dress shopping, because I had high expectations, but still wanted to stay within my budget. But, I was so lucky to have found Blue Bridal in Denver on the one day my mom and sister where in town visiting, and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience and my dress. Before shopping I swore I wouldn’t wear a ballgown, but after trying a few on I realized how beautiful I felt in that style. Your wedding is the only day in your life you can get away with a dress like that, and I wanted to take advantage of that! The wonderfully patient women at Blue Bridal helped me find “the dress” that made me feel like the bride I always dreamed I would be. Their suggestion of adding a bolero lace top for our church ceremony made me feel like I had two gorgeous dresses in one, and they were even able to make a custom bow that I added to the back of the dress for the reception. Wearing my mom’s veil that her sister had made on my parents’ wedding day completed the look and reminded me of all the years of loving marriages that came before us. Finding out how beautifully my skirt spun on the dance floor didn’t hurt either!

We LOVE this elegant Glasgow wedding, shared with us by Alyssa at Adorn Invitations. Christina and Paul didn’t have a big agenda regarding a theme for their big day, other than knowing they wanted a traditional Scottish wedding. In these stunning images by photographer Carley Buick you will see they achieved that and more with groom and groomsmen looking incredibly smart in their kilts, and everyone dancing to a traditional Scottish song at the end of the evening. As she should, the bride stole the show in her dreamy Pronovias gown, and coming in a close second were the unique and dramatic floral arrangements by Flowers 4 Hours. Christina’s advice for brides: “Don’t get too stressed over the minor details. Remind yourself that your wedding guests aren’t going to notice the tiny details which haven’t gone to plan. All that really matters is that everyone is having a good time!”

How did you and your partner meet?

We met in November 2010 at the birthday party of two mutual friends.

How did he propose?

We got engaged in Barcelona in July 2015 in front of the Fountains of Montjuic. Paul got down on one knee with my great granny’s engagement ring which I had always loved. It was very romantic and a very special but surreal moment which we’ll never forget.

How did you choose your wedding gown?

I found it relatively easy to choose my dream dress as I knew I wanted a fitted dress with lace. I wanted a dress which was modern but elegant. I found my dress in a shop called Anne Priscilla Bridal in Glasgow. They had the most amazing selection of dresses and the staff there completely understood what style of dress I was looking for. I felt that the Pronovias dress which I chose was elegant and suited to the classic venue. The fabric was amazing quality and it was such an easy dress to wear all day.

What sort of style did you envision for your wedding day?

We never started out with a particular theme/style in mind for our big day. We thought the interior of our venue was so beautiful that it wasn’t so necessary to have a bold style. We wanted a traditional Scottish wedding that was elegant and natural.

What was your favorite moment from the day?

Dancing with our nearest and dearest to Loch Lomond (a traditional Scottish song) at the end of the night!

Any DIY décor elements?

We took inspiration from various things we’d seen at other weddings, blogs, Pinterest and Instagram. I had made a few chalk boards.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change?

I would love to do it all over again as it really was the best day ever but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Any tips that you can give to future brides?

Don’t get too stressed over the minor details. Nobody really cares! I threw a bridezilla fit the day before the wedding when we were setting up the venue as I thought the speakers looked huge. In hindsight…it really didn’t matter! The whole venue looked great even with the speakers. Remind yourself that your wedding guests aren’t going to notice the tiny details which haven’t gone to plan. All that really matters is that everyone is having a good time!
