I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

“THOSE. FLOWERS.” was our reaction upon first seeing the gorgeous images from Lindsey and Chris’s wedding. In celebration of their life together, the couple brought the floral-gloriousness (seriously, the flowers are out-of-control-amazing) and the fun, to their reception at King Plow Art Center in Atlanta. We absolutely love how Phil Sanders captured all the joy and lightheartedness of their big day.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Wow this one is so tough! Everything about our day was so very special. Since I was taking on the last name “Stump” I wanted to incorporate that woodsy, yet modern feel into our day.
From our Stump guest books, to our Stump cupcake stand, and our invitations, everything had a touch of “Stump” to it!

Also my floral designer Lindsay Coletta did such a fantastic job with our flowers. I wanted my bouquet to not be traditional. I wanted it to be HUGE and bright, but still with that woodsy feeling. It was perfect! My bridesmaid’s flowers were the same way. I loved the extra detail that she added with hand-dyed ribbon for all of us. Everything looked so natural like it just was picked from a wildflower field!

My flower girl also had a flower wand instead of a flower basket which was really cute and different.
The guy’s boutonnieres were very simple with greenery and a pop of color!

If you can’t tell by now, I am that woman that knew what she wanted and wanted it to be totally different!
I would have to say the biggest WOW factor was the HUGE hand built flower box installation that was hanging above the head table; made by Lindsay Coletta’s fiance’. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen! Tons of candles were lit on top then these amazing flowers were hanging down with tons of greenery! I literally cried when I walked in and screamed “THIS IS PERFECT, JUST PERFECT!” She added so many touches to our wedding; from little votive’s here and there, to the awesome guest table displays in different vessels. Here is where I wanted it not to match! When I met with her, I got to pick out what vessels were my style and she incorporated that!

I think the colors for our wedding were pretty fun! These days you see mostly the traditional colors, etc; but I am that girl that wants it to be like BAM that was different! LOL. I can remember when I met with my wedding planners Sarah and Marilisa with Chancey Charm I brought a little zip lock baggie with spools of ribbon that were my colors. Magenta, deep turquoise, gold and grey. From there they made the magic happen. They had also suggested lounge furniture up front where the band was so people could sit and watch and just add another cozy aspect to our day. This was an awesome idea and I loved it.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

When thinking of a wedding gown I pinned so many different style on Pinterest I was all over the place. When talking to Sarah and Marilisa (Chancey Charm) they suggested I go to Bridals by Lori. I was like oh how fun that place that is on TV! HAHA! Well they knew me too well. I did not want to take anyone with me. I wanted to go alone and really find the gown with no opinions. With that being said it was just Sarah, Marilisa (Chancey Charm) and myself. To this day, I would not have had it any other way!

We went to Bridals by Lori and started to pick dresses. I must say I was so overwhelmed with all of the styles and room after room of gowns. I thought, how in the heck am I supposed to choose. I did stick to my budget and only pulled ones that were in my price range. I just started pulling dresses, and trying them on. I tried on the ball gown style and realized that it was just not for me.

I then tried on the fit and flare style, and hands down this was the one for me. I thought…I do have a booty why not embrace it and show it off a little! HEHE We tried on about 3 styles of this dress type until I found the dress and of course said “YES TO THE DRESS” on that platform that every girl dreams of standing on and finding the perfect gown.

My dress was made by the designer Monique Lhuiller. It was a style from her 2014 collection. Working in the fashion industry, I have always liked her designs so I was thrilled to be wearing one of her pieces. It was strapless and a little off-white and a clean zipper down the pack. I knew I wanted some more WOW to the dress so I added the belt on and the buttons going down the back. It was beyond perfect!

What were some touches added to make it personal?

I think the main one again, is going back to incorporating all of the “Stump” themed pieces. This was a big hit and made total sense! Chris and I love sweet tea so that was our take away favor. We did these little sweet tea favors in mason jars that sat atop crates; and was super cute. I also love to support local people so I wanted all of my jewelry along with my bridesmaids to be handmade. Sarah introduced me to Southern Bauble Co and I fell in love. I met with the creative mind behind this company Alex Beall and we played around with some ideas until she created the perfect designs!

I wanted again that WOW factor of my necklace and again not the traditional pearls and diamonds. Trust me, nothing is wrong with that I just wanted to be different! =) So my necklace consisted of big chucky turquoise and magenta stones with mother of pearl and Swarovski crystals. I had 5 big bracelets that were the same stones; and stud earrings to match.

As a gift to my girls, I had Alex create the exact same thing with the necklace minus the turq color since their dresses were that shade and kept the bracelet’s the magenta color, mother of pearl and Swarovski crystals. They too had the same earrings as mine. I wanted something that they could wear over and over. To this day I will get pictures or see my ladies wearing their gems! SCORE!

Another personal touch was my fun magenta shoes that I wore. I again wanted that pop of color and let me tell you finding those puppies was not easy! However they were super comfy. I also hand my Grandma Welton’s handkerchief with me the entire day. I stuffed it in my dress! LOL She was one special lady and I know she was with me during this special day.

One of my dearest friends who could not make it that day sent me a handkerchief as well along with a vintage handbag for my something old, and a penny to put in my shoe for good luck. It touched me so much and I carried that bag the entire night!

Having a Southern Buffett menu was something else that was personal to our day since Chris and I love living in the south we wanted to introduce some foods that our families from all over might have never tried. For example, one of the dishes was a Low Country Boil…who does not love that? Some of our guests had never even heard of it before! We wanted out guests to be full with awesome southern comfort food from southern fried chicken, baked 3 cheese macaroni and cheese, to Peach and Blueberry Pie Pops instead of the cake pops that you see everyone. On the Pie Pops we had the letter S stamped into the dough for “Stump”.

We had a 2 tier cake for just Chris and I then 3 tiers of cupcakes! On top of the stump cupcake stand we had our initials carved into it….we now use it as a decorative piece in our home. Our guest books that were Stumps we shellacked and hung them in a collage on a wall for us to be reminded daily of who came to our special day. Another part of our wedding was that I think made if very personable is that Chris and I wanted everyone to get up and mingle and meet each other. To make this happen we did not have a seating chart. We had tables lined up and anybody could sit anywhere. We wanted people to get up off their feet and mingle around and of course dance to our awesome band-Band X. I loved how they got the crowd involved and they really listened to what music Chris and I wanted them to play and not one person was sitting I will say that! My dad is not a big dancer, matter of fact I have NEVER seen him dance until I had Band X give a shout out to my dad and play some Def Leopard; his all-time favorite band!

What was the most memorable part of the day?

There were SO MANY memorable parts of the day, but if I have to just pick one it would be when my Dad came into the Bridal room and saw me for the first time. He walked in and I looked up and we both started to cry and I remember him saying “Damn, Linz you are so beautiful. I did not think I was going to get this choked up.” I said “DAD WE ARE IN CHURCH YOU CAN NOT CUSS” hahahaha. I am such a daddy’s girl…always have been and always will be. Besides, my husband he is my Best Friend in the male category! I remember when we were dancing to our song he said “You will always be my little girl; now someone else just gets to love you too.”

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

Chris and I met back in the spring of 2007. We had mutual friends who one night introduced us. At the time, I had a boyfriend and I remember Chris got my number from my girlfriend’s phone because I would not give it to him! He called me up one night and we talked forever and he said “You can tell your boyfriend that you have a new man now.” Well as you can see that is what happened…he asked me to be his girlfriend on May 27, 2007. I remember going to work and could not quit smiling. This was the first time I had ever felt this connected to someone. I knew from that moment, I never wanted to be without him.

Over the years, Chris being the jokester that he is would pull little pranks on me that made me think ”OMG he is about to ask me” I would get so mad when it really was “Babe, just look at the moon” or “Babe just look at how those clouds make a heart” and nothing more than that! Finally…and I mean finally on my 30th birthday last year, he woke me up around 5:30 to go ahead and give me my birthday present. Well like any other lady at this time in the a.m I was like no way, it can wait. He kept pushing for me to get up and finally I did. I saw that he had placed a camera on our table beside the bed, and I thought “Holy Cow, I am getting that Louis Vuitton handbag” I was PUMPED.

It never crossed my mind that he was going to ask. I think the reason for this was because he had tricked me so many other times; and I also thought probably not on my birthday etc. Well I was completely shocked…he got down on his knee’s with me sitting on the bed and asked me to be his wife. He said the most beautiful things that I will never forget…and of course this lady said, well screamed “IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING…LOOKED AROUND AND SAID YES YES YES.” Our wedding was the BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES…and I could not be happier to be Mrs. Lindsey Stump…yes folks Stump like a tree! =)
