Kate and Adam’s wedding is a particularly special because Kate is a wedding photographer in her own right. When a wedding photographer plans a wedding, you know it is going to be unique and special, and this one absolutely takes the cake! Set on the water’s edge of Lake Chelan, the pair invited friends and family for an alfresco dinner under the stars. We absolute adore all of the elegant yet homespun details that they included in the big day (including those KILLER florals by Stacy Anderson Design) and are absolutely enamored with these gorgeous images shot by Ryan Flynn Photography.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Being a wedding photographer, I’ve experienced every kind of wedding imaginable. I wanted to have a more intimate, less conventional wedding so that it remained unique and memorable to Adam and I. We invited 70 of our closest friends and family, and held a back yard wedding at a family friends house in Lake Chelan. Chelan was special to me, as much of my childhood was spent vacationing there. Being in the wedding industry, I already knew which vendors I wanted to use. Fortunately they were all available on our date, and we got to work with some extremely talented people!
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I wore a Sarah Seven gown that I absolutely loved! I found it at The Dress Theory.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
Adam and his dad built all of the tables and benches from cedar milled off of their property. For dessert, my mom made everyone a personal blackberry pie (our favorite treat) and she also sewed cloth napkins out of a dip dyed ombre fabric I really loved. My cousin played “That’s Amore” on the accordion as we exited the ceremony, and we served pizza at the reception (our favorite food).
What was the most memorable part of the day?
Adam and I loved the speeches and toasts. It was really special hearing our closest friends and family share how much they loved us and affirmed our marriage. I also loved when we stepped out for a minute onto the deck that overlooked our party to soak it all in.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
Adam and I met in 2006 while serving at a Young Life camp in Canada. He proposed when I was on a photo shoot with some fellow photographers in the Columbia River Gorge. See the full story here.
