From the designer: “Fly Away with Me” is an invitation to endless love.  The white doves, a central part of this wedding story, symbolize love, devotion, and promise, the promise of never ending love.  Doves mate for life which makes their intriguing story of a lifelong bond, unusual in the animal kingdom and relatable to two people in love. As husband and wife, each holds a dove in their hands and releases them together, knowing however far apart they fly, in whichever direction they choose, they will always end up at home together, choosing each day, to be with each other. Amazingly, these doves do the same thing.  Once White Wings of OKC gives the highly trained and conditioned Belgian Rock Doves to the bride and groom, they too find their way home and end up together again. The live dove release set the tone for the entire shoot.  Every detail and piece of planning centered around this beautiful release.

Organic with a bit of an early 70’s vibe shaped the vision of “Fly Away with Me.” The table is set with vintage ceramic doves and Anchor Hocking Fire King plates, made in the early 70’s. Additionally, an empire-waisted, flowing gown, a beautifully updated Brigitte Bardot hairstyle and strong eyes for our bride told her story. The Phaedra gown by Claire Pettibone was chosen specifically for the gorgeous, low back, adorned with roses and the empire waist. It features flowing, silk chiffon over floral lace. It is elegant and effortless, a wedding gown possessing striking beauty and comfortable ease.

We used the perfect 70’s-inspired settee from Ruby’s Vintage Rentals and an heirloom antique tea cart. The blues and greens in the bridal shoes, the cake and the settee, along with the wooded island, communicate the perfect color palette for organic and vintage 70’s. The beautiful, three-tiered, gold and water color-inspired, hand painted cake was designed and created by Amy Cakes. It features green water color painting, imperfect gold stripes and hand-made sugar flowers. We wanted the cake to represent nature and the water while looking glamorous at the same time.

Freehand calligraphy stationery felt like the organic choice.  Christina Ketter, owner of Letter with a K, used stationery-textured paper and hand made the rsvp envelope. The stationery, too, has a very organic feel. The calligraphy of the hand written invitations, rsvp card, menu, and other stationery was inspired by the fly away with me theme as the calligrapher wanted to give it a feeling of floating on air. Christina hand embossed several pieces to add dimension and more texture, and she used a wax seal with a dove insignia as the final touch. Christina also hand painted the beautiful “Fly Away with Me” sign to invite guests to leave the constraints of their every day stress for a few hours, and fly away with the couple to this moment of love.

The gorgeous flowers were intentionally loosely arranged, white and cream and the palest pink to give an organic feel. The various bouquets feature french tulips, peonies, anemones, garden roses and lots of seeded eucalyptus designed and created by Trochta’s Flowers.
