Lauren and Adam wanted to incorporate both romance and her Hispanic heritage into their big day, and we think they nailed it by choosing Rancho Las Lomas as their venue. Paradise Florista turned eucalyptus, ranunculus, roses and peonies into gorgeous texture everywhere, continuing the romanticism under the twinkle lights. To add some personal touches, Lauren asked her brother to officiate, and walked down the aisle to a song her late father had been practicing just before he passed away. Martina Liana designed the gorgeous gown that brought tears to Lauren’s eyes when she tried it on, sealing the deal for her. We are loving the colors, texture, and beauty of this wedding, expertly photographed by Mallory Dawn Photography, and we think you will too.
What made the wedding special and unique?
I wanted everything to have a very romantic feel while also incorporating my Hispanic heritage. So, I hired a flamenco guitarist to play the ceremony music and cocktail hour! I think the venue itself was super unique too. Who can say they had zebras and a white tiger at their wedding?!
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I found my gown at Blush Bridal Couture in Tustin, CA. It was the third dress I tried on at my very first time gown shopping. I tried on another 7 dresses before putting mine back on. I decided to take it off and go to my other shopping appointments, but when they were unclipping me I started to cry. I never cry so that’s how I knew it was meant to be!
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
My brother was my officiant! My husband and I aren’t very religious and we wanted our ceremony to be led by someone who knew us, so we asked my brother. Also, the recessional song I chose was the last song my dad was learning how to play on the guitar before he passed away. It was really important to me that pieces of him were displayed throughout the wedding even if I was the only one who knew about them! I think setting thank you notes at each place setting was super special too. I, unfortunately, wasn’t able to see every single guest, but sought comfort knowing they read the note that I wrote for them.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The beginning of the ceremony. For Adam, it was watching me walk down the aisle and seeing me in my dress for the first time. For me, it was the sudden realization of “holy cow, I’m marrying my best friend right now”.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met through a mutual friend right as high school was ending. We didn’t actually starting talking until Thanksgiving that year and then were official 2 weeks later. Adam proposed the day he graduated from the Los Angeles Police Department Academy. After the graduation ceremony we walked, with our families, to a spot to take pictures. Adam kept looking at me and saying, “how should I pose?” I, not understanding what was happening, just told him to act normal. All the while his mom was slipping him the ring box behind his back. That’s when he grabbed me by the shoulders to face him, said, “I love you” and dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked he had to ask twice!
