Grey Likes Weddings Rockin' a new rock?!

There’s that giddy excitement that comes with sending out your wedding invitations. I made Tyler pose for a photo as he dropped the first giant stack into the mail box. Sending out the invites was one of the first things that took the wedding from fantasy to reality in my mind, and it was an exciting shift! As you imagine those sheets of paper being disseminated into the world bearing news of your ultra-huge decision to commit to someone for forever, everything solidifies. You can’t help but look at your partner and think, “We’re really doing this!”

And then the RSVPs start to come back. It’s thrilling. People are actually getting your invitations in the mail, actually opening them, actually checking their calendars, and actually making plans for your big day. It’s really happening. And then the stack of RSVPs grows, (and I don’t know if this has been everyone’s experience) but the yes stack starts growing exponentially faster. Everyone can celebrate with you- yay! But when you plan your guest list, you do expect some kind of attrition rate, right? I did, anyway. The internet told me so…

So basically, I’m starting to get a little freaked out! I mean, I can seat all these people in our reception venue, but do I want to pack everyone in like sardines? No. To all your married ladies out there (you lucky girls!), what was your experience with receiving RSVPs? Did people you never dreamed would come, show? Did people you were sure would be there, flake? Did everyone who RSVPed yes actually make an appearance? And to bride-to-bes, is anyone else having a similar experience?
