“It was a hot day and the sun was shining at the perfect angle. She was the most beautiful bride ever.” This moment was the most memorable for groom Cameron on his wedding day to bride Ashley. The couple wed at Calistoga Ranch in an intimate ceremony and reception filled with classic details in white, linen and lace. Miss Meliss Floral Design “over-delivered” Ashley’s vision of romantic white blooms and a classic wine country reception in The Wine Cave at the ranch capped off the festivities. We’re absolutely loving the sophisticated restraint on the day and it’s all captured in these beautiful film photographs by Meghan Mehan.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Our wedding was small and intimate which made it really special. Calistoga Ranch was such a fantastic venue and is so naturally beautiful. Having our ceremony on the lawn and having our family close by was wonderful. A good friend of ours was also able to officiate and his ceremony was so special and personal to the two of us.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
My gown was a mix of two designers. The top was Reem Acra, and the skirt was by Watters. I found it at a small bridal boutique here in Dallas called Warren Barron. We went to a few other boutiques but nothing struck and the other boutiques seemed a little too prom style. Warren Barron was amazing. They carry specialty items and their staff is wonderfully knowledgeable. I was able to try on gowns with my mom, mother-in-law and grandma which was perfect!
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
Everything about our wedding was very personal. We chose wine country because Cameron and I hold the valley very near and dear. It was the first trip we took together, and many more followed after that. Our florist completely over-delivered in the BEST possible way. She took everything we said we wanted and made it perfect. We were also surrounded by close family and friends which was so special. My Grandparents were able to be in attendance with us which was also very personal and special to both of us. The wine we served was from our favorite local vineyard, Fleury. It was so fun to be able to share our favorite wine with our friends and family!
What was the most memorable part of the day?
Ashley: I think the most memorable part of the day for me was our first look. It was so wonderful to have a few special moments alone with Cameron before our wedding started. Also, he was {is} the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. Cameron: Seeing Ashley in the wine vineyard for the first look was the most memorable part of the day that will never leave my mind. It was a hot day and the sun was shining at the perfect angle. She was the most beautiful bride ever.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met the old fashioned way…actually, we met via a dating app. It was kind of a one-shot wonder for both of us. We met for dinner and both instantly knew there was something there. I think by date three I knew I was going to marry him. We both knew very quickly that we were made for each other. After a few months, Cameron surprised me with breakfast in bed and a proposal! To say that was one of the best days of my life would be an understatement. After he proposed, we jetted off to Canada where we spent a few days at Cameron’s family cottage in the Georgian Bay celebrating with family.
