I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

I’ve got this bright orange Eames chair that sits proudly in my office. He was a lucky Craigslist find, and though I had no real plans for him, nor anything that remotely worked with his unabashed color, I knew he was meant to be mine. I mean…he was a real bonified vintage Eames. EAMES. We’ve since become better acquainted and he’s found a few friends around the house that get along with him much better than I had anticipated. For any of you that find yourselves typing “mid century modern” or “eames” into Craigslist, Ebay, or google search queries, then, like me, your heart will skip a beat (or two) when you spy this mid century modern wedding inspiration.

All of this absolute perfection is brought to you by photographer Andrea Hubbell and the styling skills of Soiree. They’ve shared a bit more details about the inspiration below, which I think you’ll enjoy, so check out the extra info, along with some of the great resources that put together such a rad shoot!

diy martini bar how to make your own martini

Stealing inspiration from the architecture and decor of the 1950’s, this mid-century modern design combines clean lines and warm tones to create an urban, edgy style with all of the traditional trimmings. A color palette of burnt orange, olive green, black and white is a bold and unexpected choice for this pool-side, afternoon event. Prickly aloe and supple succulents provide a wonderful pop of texture and color, and double as fun eco-friendly favors. Modern stemware, china and flatware create a clean background for pattern-rich menu cards… which for a touch of fun, double as dance instructions! No tabletop is complete without the warmth of stunning color and texture-rich florals, but you won’t find hydrangea on this table. Instead, flowers that are reminiscent of fun and colorful sea urchins, more succulents, and billy balls make up the lovely arrangements from Floral Images. The martini bar utilizes a 1950’s stereo cabinet, where guests will find ‘how-to’ instructions designed by Rock Paper Scissors to help them shake up the perfect signature martinis. The dessert table features mini cakes and chocolate fondue to drizzle over top, along with custom popsicles to help cool down the guests as they come off of the dance floor. It is not often that you have the opportunity to explore and discover ideas, textures, colors and tastes that could be considered out of the box or nontraditional, so just go for it and have fun!

What if you loved the beach so much, that you and your fiancee decided to drive all the way from Arizona to Santa Cruz, California, for a very special engagement session? If that happened…it might look a lot like these dreamy images shot by the oh-so-lovely Danielle Gillett Photography. I die. A little more about Bette and Dan’s engagement story is below!

This creative diy bride wanted something different for her engagement pictures. Since both her and her fiancee are drawn to the ocean she wanted their engagement session to capture their love and its serene and unending beauty, they traveled from Arizona to do a beach camp-out themed engagement in Santa Cruz, Ca. Dan picked out Bette’s dress and togehter they gathered items that have been passed down for decades in their family. They even created the tent using a tree from her parents property. For the shoot her mom and aunt showed up to help set everything up. It was truly a family effort and will fit nicely with their diy vintage surf themed wedding in September.

Ladies. I’m not sure whether or not you’re a GQ reader. If you aren’t, then stop right now and take a moment to check out the altogether way too darling crush-worthy Daren Criss, who is modeling some of GQ’s fashion rubric for this summer’s wedding season. Check out the entire article here, along with more great images by Kai Z Feng.

If you are more or less in charge of your man’s wardrobe, take note. Otherwise, send him this article. He’ll be the most fashionable gent at any wedding you attend this summer.

On our last day of Shoot This Not That, we enjoyed brunch at  Angele Restaurant & Bar in downtown Napa. The Collection Event Studio ladies brought in Maki of Viola Floral Design to help make our table beyond lovely…because apparently we can’t do anything without making it look beautiful. I just couldn’t resist sharing some more pretty from our workshop with images shot by Lori Paladino.

After we spent the afternoon shooting, we then sat down for a well-styled and fabulously catered wine dinner by Barbara Llewellyn Catering.

barbara llewellyn catering scribe winery event

The food was beyond description…as was the Scribe Winery vino. We had the chance to talk about each wine pairing and learned so much about the process of crafting wine. The company of each person was life giving–we laughed, ate, drank, talked, and laughed and ate some more as the sunset over Sonoma Valley. It was more idyllic than I can even begin to express.

That’s an Organic Tcho Chocolate Orbit Cake with Burnt Caramel Cream and Maldon Sea Salt. Umm…Glory!

We’ve got more for you tomorrow. I know. Crazy. Hopefully you can handle it!
