Hey-O. Is it summer still? Pretty sure it is, right? I mean, us West Coasters are enduring a crazy heat wave at the moment. It’s like August wanted to make sure we knew she deserves as many mojito afternoons and sunburned bike rides that we give July. So she’s making sure we remember the summer is no where near over. Which I’m fine with me.

In the name of all that is hot and heavy, it seemed right that I share with you a few images from the shoot I styled last winter at Secrets Maroma. Yes. We shot this last winter. But sweet Mexico makes it possible to enjoy warm sand and tender beaches…even in mid January. So, along with Katie of Ever After Honeymoons (have I mentioned she knows all the hot spots…like the cool kid in high school) and Troy Grover Photographers, we set our jets for Riviera Maya for a rad Mexico inspired shoot. So here are a few samples from the shoot, though to see more, be sure to head over to Utterly Engaged, where we’ve bean featured in this month’s new issue!

Hope you enjoy a few sneaks from my recent work! I heart styling in foreign countries.

Speaking of…ladies. I have a question for you. All I want to know is…where are you planning on going for your honeymoon? Hawaii? Mexico? The Caribbean? Road Trip? Palm Springs? Wine Country? Amalfi Coast? I’m so curious! Let’s chat it up! Tell me about your honeymoon plans/dreams!

If you didn’t check out today’s real wedding, doused in school spirit and pennant flags, then you must go see it! And then, if you love the idea as much as I do, then here’s another cutie idea to add to it: Felt Pennant Flag Save the Dates. I adore these little cuties from Mélangerie with images by Jen Huang.

This suite was part of a shoot which was designed by  Mélangerie Inc. and Rock Paper Scissors Events, shot by Jen Huang and with stationery (above…which you can totally order for yourself!) by Mélangerie Inc. You can see more of the shoot in it’s original feature on Style Me Pretty and here.

That’s right, chicas. Today we’ve got a really fun 1940’s inspired shoot with a dose of glam and tiny dollop of taxidermy. And for some reason, it completely has me rockin. Photography is by Brienne Michelle, Photography. Production, concept and styling is by Samantha Santana of Primary Petals (who rocked the florals, fashion, custom linens, and vintage rentals) and make up artist Christina Richardson of SCV Makeup. These gals really put together such a creative, stretch-your-creative-legs kind of concept and brought this shoot to life! Day of styling also included Emilee Sutherland, and Kathy LeBackes. The beautiful taxidermy is by Prey Taxidermy.

Here’s a little more info from Samantha of Primary Petals, who created the concept and styled the shoot (as well as designed the flowers!):

The 1940s conjure mental images of mink fur and Hollywood glamour. The aesthetic motifs of this era provide some interesting design opportunities as they relate to the majesty of the animal world. SCV Makeup Artist and Primary Petals took this opportunity to collaborate and play with this relationship by placing a different spin on our archetypal conception of the 1940s.  Instead of simply donning fur and lace, the concept of this shoot was to pose extreme glamorous beauty against phenomenons of the animal world. Hence the “beauty and the beast” idea was formed. Every feminine and floral element contains beastly objects, such as feathers or snake skin. The animals, although the supposed “beasts” of the shoot, reminisce instead of a calm Eden in the warm glowing window backdrops. The ambiance of domestic light along with elegant feathers, flowers, and china reflects the glamour of the 40s back onto the animals. The effect is the sort of wonderment familiar to a visit to the natural history museum. Allowing our scene to capture the transcendent wild in the comfort and elegance of a library is the fascinating craft of taxidermy, namely that of Prey Taxidermy Designs who donated all specimen for this shoot.

Viva Italia!

That was my favorite phrase when I went to Italy this spring. Everywhere you look, there is gorgeous color, objects, food, buildings, history, walls…door knobs for goodness sake. It doesn’t end. I figured, now that it’s summer, and so many of you have likely turned to thoughts of travel, I thought it would be a perfect time to share some of our Italian experience, feature a few Italian weddings and inspiration, along with some really great destinations if you’re considering Italy for your honeymoon.

Today, we’re starting off with a GORGEOUS inspiration shoot styled by Laura of Tren di Nozze, with flowers and makeup by Chiara by Bois de Rose and photos by Melissa of La De Da Photography. These images were shot in Venice. Get ready to book your flights after you see this…
