St. Louis, Missouri couple Jason and Michelle chose a destination wedding in Charleston, S.C., because the more Michelle planned, the more complex a wedding in her hometown became. She wanted her wedding day to be a day when she could be at her most beautiful while being down-to-earth and deeply in love, so she decided to move the wedding to a beach house in Charleston. She poured herself into the details of the wedding, compiling a selection of gold vintage brooches and having a local florist create her one-of-a-kind DIY bouquet, and adding little elegant touches like a tuxedo for the couple’s cocker spaniel, Finn, Plum Pretty Sugar robes for her bridesmaids (who then changed into varying shades of gold for the ceremony), and chalkboard-labeled jars for a lemonade “cocktail” hour on the beach after their sweet ceremony. She included a Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream station instead of a cake, and lots of personalized details all located in the brick-walled Southend Brewery in downtown Charleston.
Very special thanks to photographer Kelly Sauer for such gorgeous images!
