Nadya and Matt were married at Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston a chose to emphasize their southern roots with fun touches like corn hole during cocktail hour, hushpuppies served during dinner, and mason jars hung with candles. Everything about this wedding is sweet, happy, and beyond joyous. Leave it to planner: Melissa Barton of A Charleston Bride to make sure that all the details were spot on for a southern fete! Photographer Tim Willoughby made sure to capture all the details and was lovely enough to let us share them with you.
Their love story:
Matt and I met in Charlotte, NC through my roommate at the time. She worked on the same floor as Matt and introduced us at an after work happy hour event. We barely spoke that night, but the next day he asked Kathryn for my number. He called and invited me to dinner and that was that. Two years later he came home one Friday night from work with my pug Chubsley. He had told me earlier that he would bring him to Petsmart for a bath. It took me a few minutes to notice that the handkerchief around Chubsley’s neck had “will you marry me” embroidered on it. Definitely a surprise!
A word from the bride:
The second I saw Lowndes Grove I knew that was where I wanted to get married. I fell in love with the classic look of the house and wanted the wedding decor to compliment it, not overshadow it. Yellow is a favorite color of mine and I like how it pops next to gray so that quickly became our color scheme. Melissa did such an amazing designing our wedding around my inspiration (mostly Pinterest inspired!). Lots of candles, lanterns hanging from the trees, mason jars, and chandeliers — a mix of both elegant and Southern touches. We wanted the wedding to reflect us so we added in details like corn hole, baskets of hushpuppies on the dinner tables, a Motown band, and mini pies instead of traditional wedding cake.
