First—we love the simplicity of Ashley and Zachary’s family-centric wedding day. There’s a sense of calm and happiness in every, single beautiful image by Red Fly Studio. Second—OMG it’s that wallpaper!! (you’ll know it when you see it.) We know you’ll enjoy this pretty little wedding as much as we do!
From photographer- Ashley and Zach had the perfect combo of being downright adorable and having classic beauty. They handled the dreary, rainy day with grace and enjoyed being around everyone. When these two saw each other for the first look, Zach literally jumped up and down and shouted “I’m the luckiest guy in the world!” Ashley has family in Germany, so their ring bearer, Zach’s nephew, wore lederhosen. They also did a traditional German log cutting after the ceremony to signify the beginning of a new family and the overcoming of the first obstacle of marriage. The color palette they to chose was timeless and the emotions of the day were real. I loved this wedding.
What made the wedding special and unique?
We chose Summerour because not only was the building absolutely gorgeous on its own, it was a central location for both families. That was top priority as family was the main inspiration for our wedding day. There is a certain comfort that comes with just being with your family. We wanted to spend the evening with each other, soaking in every minute and immersed in happiness with family and friends. We wanted people to see the love we have for each other in a setting that was gleaming with joy for all involved. We knew we didn’t want a wedding centered around a theme. The decor was light and simple. With the help of a welder from work we were able to make 17 candelabras for the tables. It wasn’t until the reception I was reminded of the ‘no candle policy’ I signed – whoops! They were still gorgeous and looked amazing by the floral arrangements. The log cutting ceremony was a special part of the reception. The majority of my mom’s family lives in Germany and wasn’t able make it. This was a way to include them and honor her heritage.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I took a girls trip to Atlanta to find a dress with my mom, his mom, and his sisters. It was the second dress I tried on at the first store I went to, Kelly’s Closet. I looked in the mirror and thought this is it – DONE! I still can’t get over how comfortable it was to wear.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
Our music choices- Processional: First and Last Waltz – Nickel Creek, Recessional: Clocks – Coldplay and lastly, First Dance: Out of The Woods – Nickel Creek.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
One of my favorite parts of the day was dancing with my dad while Zachary and his mom danced. It was such a special moment for me. As I looked over at him I couldn’t believe it. I am married to the most handsome, patient, and funny man AND he loves his mama AND has an incredible family!? I was overwhelmed and couldn’t wait to be his forever.
