Real Weddings:
Mass Audubon Habitat & Wildlife Sanctuary Wedding
featuring Fat Orange Cat Studio and Lauren Wells Events
Molly and Travis planned an incredibly intimate wedding for their closest 37 friends and family members last spring at Mass Audubon Habitat & Wildlife Sanctuary. The day was as gorgeous as it was intimate, and we seriously are DYING over all the details put together by event designer and stylist, Lauren Wells Events along with floral designer Bow Street Flowers and calligrapher Anne Robin. Seriously, we are pinching ourselves that we have the honor of sharing these BEAUTIFUL images by Fat Orange Cat Studio.
What made the wedding special and unique?
We narrowed our guest list down to 37 people so we were able to keep it a small, intimate, and incredibly personal event. Food is a very important piece of our lives and with the small guest list we were able to have a four-course tasting menu with wine pairings along with our cake.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
It is a strapless Augusta Jones tiered lace gown with a sash tied with a large bow in the back. It was the first dress I tried on at Allegria Bridal in Belmont as I was just browsing with my mother. I tried it on and it fit my personality perfectly, we both knew it was the one for me so we cancelled all future appointments and ordered it right on the spot.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
We both love nature and it was important to us that the ceremony and reception be held outside, despite the fact that the day turned out to be a bit cold and the wild became wild as the day went on. Every aspect of our wedding was personal to us, from the lavender toss, to the wine pairings primarily from the region of France where we were to go on our honeymoon, to the almond chocolate cake, everything represented us to a tee.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The most memorable part of the day was definitely walking down the aisle and seeing him at the end. After 6 1/2 years together, I figured I would not be overly emotional and would be able to remain level-headed and calm, but once I got to the end I couldn’t help but become a bit teary eyed and overwhelmed with excitement.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met in college while I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. After 6 1/2 years of dating, he surprised me with a one-night trip to Portland, Maine, where he knew I had never been before. He brought me (and our dog) to the Portland Head Light (as he knows I love lighthouses), found a secluded spot, and proposed!
