Lauren and Bryan were married at the Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michael’s in The Chesapeake Bay. The wedding weekend was full of family and friends that came from all over to celebrate with the pair, who planned plenty of activities and an incredibly romantic and personal outdoor reception to cap off the weekend. We absolutely love all the gold and white details throughout the decor and know you are going to LOVE the photos by Eli Turner.
What made the wedding special and unique?
We loved being able to share with our friends and family the beauty of the Eastern Shore. We picked St. Michael’s because we love the quaint, simplistic nature of the town. We always envisioned an outdoor reception and a weekend of activities. In both regards St. Michael’s fit the bill. From the moment we arrived at The Inn at Perry Cabin we knew we had our venue – simple and elegant…this was going to be fun! The Chesapeake Bay as a backdrop, the manicured gardens, and the beautiful manor house at the Inn at Perry Cabin was everything we hoped for. The tent came together more special than we could have ever imagined. It was refined yet understated enough to provide a down to earth feel.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
We moved to Colorado shortly after becoming engaged and I thought I would be able to pick the perfect dress without the help of my Mom and sister. After sending them a text of a dress that clearly wasn’t my style, it was obvious I needed some help. We then met at Kleinfeld’s in NYC where, after trying on a few dresses, I finally said yes (to the dress!) I loved how it was simple, yet modern. I never thought I would get married in a big ball gown, but man…was it fun!
What were some touches added to make it personal?
Pretty much everything we did had a personal touch to it, nothing was generic. The vintage doors behind the stage provided an amazing backdrop for our band, which rocked all night, playing anything but “typical wedding music”. Our guests were able to dance the night away under several custom made, hanging wreathes, all the while sipping on our favorite Colorado craft beer.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
When the rain stopped and we were outside of the tent with our bridal party getting ready to be introduced. It was a surreal moment when we looked into the tent and saw all of our friends and family, having come from all parts of the country, in one spot just for us.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met during an Econ 100 class at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. While occasionally bumping into each other during field hockey/lacrosse/fraternity functions, we didn’t start dating until after college.
During the summer of 2013 when we were living in Washington, DC; Bryan surprised me with a trip to Shenandoah National Park. We went camping pretty often so I didn’t think anything of it. Bryan proposed on a waterfall hike following three hours of strenuous hiking.
