Real Weddings:
Audrey and Austin’s wedding at The Castle at Rockwall
featuring Erica Mae Photography
Audrey and Austin’s wedding day is filled with a vibrant palette ranging from lilac to blush to tomato red to magenta all set against the regal backdrop of The Castle at Rockwall. Lizzie Bees Flower Shoppe executed stunning rose-filled florals throughout the event including stunning mantle garland, a lush bouquet and bold centerpieces. A modern cake by Say it with Sugar and the images by the wonderful Erica Mae Photography capture all the details and the couple’s delight.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Definitely the venue! The Castle at Rockwall had so much to offer, it really was a no-brainer! And something that made it very special to me personally, was having one of my best friends and bridesmaids doing my makeup and another bridesmaid’s mother doing all of the coordinating. My bridesmaid, Gabrielle, made me feel like the prettiest girl in the world that day, and she killed it on my hairstyle! And Cindy, our wedding coordinator handled every detail perfectly. I would have been lost without these two on my wedding day!
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I was not at all expecting to buy a dress that day, but we walked into Mockingbird Bridal in Dallas and it was right there in front of me on a mannequin and I said that’s it! I want to try that on first! And of course I loved it, but everyone else wanted me to keep trying things on, but I put that dress back on at the end of the appointment and told them to ring it up! That was my dress and I simply fell in love with it!
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
The personal touches were all over the place for me, I picked out everything and I made all of the decisions. But the flowers were pretty personal to me; my grandmother who passed away this year and her daughter (my aunt) loved flowers and bright colors. So when I looked at the flowers, it made me think of the ones I love. And Lizzie Bees did an amazing job making my requests come to life!
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The most memorable part of the day was probably right when Austin and I sat down to eat, and both looked at each other and said Phew! That went way better than we thought it would! We were both so stressed out trying to get everything done and it still amazes us how perfectly everything went! We loved every minute of seeing everyone we loved in the same room and we are so grateful for all of the amazing people in our lives.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
Austin and I met while I was at Texas A&M getting my bachelors degree. He was up visiting with my bridesmaid Gabrielle’s now husband. We have been inseparable since then! My proposal was the biggest surprise ever, and I am a “surprise ruiner” so I do not know how he pulled this off. He proposed after the finale of the huge firework show my uncle and my cousins put on every 4th of July. He really did an amazing job, and my family can be a little intimidating sometimes so I was truly shocked! I, of course, said yes! And I have honestly never felt so special than I did that day, up until my wedding day!
