Annie and Dave celebrated their big day at Kiana Lodge, a quintessential Pacific Northwest setting, with a goal of sharing all the things they love about life with family and friends. Planners and designers, Gather Events, seamlessly wove together a variety of lighthearted details including sand dollar escort cards and surf-themed photo booth as a nod to their love of the beach, lion dancers because of Annie’s Chinese heritage, a ping pong table at happy hour with monogrammed ping pong balls and an adorable vintage VW Bus Ice Cream Truck, Seattle Cookie Counter, for late night. Althauser Design created the lovely florals and Lora Grady was the artist behind the lens capturing it all.
What made the wedding special and unique?
Our wedding day was about sharing our love and all the things we love about life with our family and friends. From the quintessential Pacific Northwest setting (Kiana Lodge) to ping pong during cocktail hour, lion dancers, and the ice cream truck. These were all special and unique things we wanted to share.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I tried on the Rue De Seine Fox gown at my first bridal appointment at Lovely Bride in New York. I absolutely loved the dress the first time I tried it on but was worried it was not traditional enough. In the end, I couldn’t get this dress out of my mind because the lace pattern was so unique, and after going back two more times to try it on, I finally purchased it the third time.
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
There were so many personal touches at our wedding. Sand dollar escort cards and surf-themed photo booth as a nod to our love of the beach. Lion Dancers because of my Chinese heritage. Ping pong table at happy hour with monogrammed ping pong balls because we both love ping pong. To top if off we had a vintage VW Bus Ice Cream Truck (Seattle Cookie Counter) come for late night. On our first vacation we rented a vintage VW bus and drove it down the California coast so the bus was to remember our first road trip together.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
During the ceremony looking onto the lawn at Kiana Lodge and seeing all our family and friends from all over the world in one place. It was magic.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met at a bar in New York and got engaged on our three year anniversary on the High Line park in NYC.
