Chase & Jan Renegar
Our Love Story
Chase and I met when I was 19 and he was 22. He was just finishing up his degree in Chemical Engineering and I thought he was the smartest guy on the planet (still think so). I was living in Texas at the time with my family, when my Dad and I decided we would make a trip to Huntsville, AL. to celebrate his father’s 70th birthday in April 2003. Chase has been good friends with our family who live in Alabama, so he hung around here and there helping with various projects that my Uncle Tim had going.
I was at my Uncle’s home hanging out, playing the guitar when this red head walks in the door, Chase. I immediately asked him to sit next to me so I could play “Your Cheating Heart” that I just learned on the guitar. I totally reeled-him-in, & he was hooked ;) We talked more that night and he offered to drive me “home,” the place I was staying in Alabama while visiting. We talked the whoooollllee way home. He got my I.M. address and we chatted online and over the phone until he wanted to visit me in June of 2003. It was pretty casual but we hit it off nicely and ended up dating on and off until he proposed February 14, 2006…
The Proposal
On Valentines Day in 2006, we agreed that we would Skype-date. I had clinicals late that day, so we were going to Skype around 9pm. (I even wore my red shirt in honor of the day). I came home tired after having so many sessions with clients, and plopped down at my parents table in the kitchen. My mom and I started talking and I felt this warm hand caressing my shoulder. Knowing it wasn’t my dad, I jumped back out of my chair and saw that it was Chase!! He surprised me by secretly flying down to Texas ON Valentines Day. Later that evening he proposed in my bedroom on one knee. We were both in tears and happy as ever. Life with Chase is a complete joy. I would marry him over and over again. Marriage is such a joy and a complete blessing with him!! God is good!
