We were so excited when one of our faves, photographer Ashley Largesse, sent us this cool copper + blush inspiration shoot. It’s the perfect lead-in to the fall season. As Kate Dawson Events says, the goal was to create a fresh, new approach to rustic by “…leaving burlap and mason jars behind and playing instead with copper, twine and terracotta!” We’re also crazy about the gorgeous pops of pink florals by Valley Flower Company and the copper accents in the super-pretty paper pieces by Christa Alexandra Designs.
From Kate Dawson: I was on a quest to find ways for the brides I work with to bring their “rustic” visions to life in creative new ways. So, from that, this shoot was born! I took the look and feel that so many brides are craving and turned it upside down – leaving burlap and mason jars behind and playing instead with copper, twine and terracotta!
I worked closely with the folks at Cedar Circle Farm (who offer an awesome “pick your own flower package” for brides in the area) to not only use some of their potted herbs and succulents tablescapes, but also to invade their property and take advantage of the beautiful landscapes, views and gardens. To our surprise (and to the surprise of our model!) we picked the freshly racked dirt field as our backdrop!
We set up the dining table in the middle of a field – embracing the unexpected vibe of the setting. The copper chargers popped agains the naked farm tables and the touches of light pink and twine made the look more feminine and rustic. To top off the table we added terracotta plates, copper calligraphy place cards, pillar candles, potted herbs and used some unique clay pots as vessels for the centerpieces. I love that by upgrading a few basic elements (tables, chairs, vases) and playing with some things that you most likely have easy – and free! – access to (herbs, twine, pots) you can create something unexpected and beautiful.
The same concept was true of our beautiful model. Her relaxed look started with the stunning off the shoulder blush gown by Jenny Yoo. With her long auburn locks blown straight and a smokey copper eye thanks to Jennifer Perellie Makeup she looked relaxed and elegant all at the same time. Her look was completed with some layered jewels by Starling (if you don’t know about this awesome new company yet, you must learn now!) and a ridiculously fabulous bouquet tied with hand dyed silk ribbons by the always fabulous Morgan at Valley Flower Company.
The stunning bride is also a talented chef, who brought some of her yummy and beautiful creations for us to taste! And they were too pretty not to photograph! We also put a welcome bag together of local Vermont treats. Welcome bags are often my favorite part of weddings and are too often overlooked!
The calligraphy was by the super talented Judith Browne Hand Lettering and the invitation suite by Christa Alexandra Designs. I was in love with how the colors and textures came together and looked so effortlessly stunning!
