I want to become a society lady Rockin' a new rock?!

Lady Grey, if you aren’t aware, is a bit of a literature buff, so when today’s photographer, Natalie Shelton, sent us a quote by author Steve Dobell, we knew it was a perfect way to start off today’s inspiration:

Many years ago, I began spending time alone in the desert, thinking I would arrive at some understanding of it. I have learned many facts, but the mystery of the desert has only become deeper. It sulks and glows in the outrageous openness of the land. It inhabits the extremes of gentleness and harshness, soft colors and hard light, hot ground and cold shadows, endurance and vulnerability, loveliness and aloofness. These are what draw me to the desert, and what I have tried to paint and write about.” Steve Dobell

If you are lover of the southwest, or if this quote just now made you one, then we know you’ll love the inspiration for today’s gorg shoot!

For you paper obsessed ladies, today’s posts are right up your alley! We love that their creative team started with paper, and build a wedding design around it. First up is the Gramercy Suite! LOVE the flowers by Natalie Bowen Designs. And the photos? Gorgeousness all shot by Melanie Duerkopp Photography.

We are soooooo excited to share this industrial inspired inspiration shoot with you today. As we head toward a more glam approach to weddings, we thought this look was fresh with a combination of feminine glam while incorporating industrial and masculine style elements as well. We’re crazy for the moody color scheme of black, brown, tan, champagne and blushy peach! And those umbrella chandeliers? We die. (YES! they are available for rent from The Vintage Type).

Major props got to Carly of Girl Friday and Diane of The Vintage Type for styling and coordination with photography by Zlata Modeen Photography. Are you ready for this?

This weekend, our parents are throwing us an engagement party! We are super excited to drink a little bubbly with our family and friends and celebrate whilst dressed up (my favorite thing to do). Since it’s officially fall (even though the California weather does NOT feel like it), I thought it would be fun to incorporate the season! We’ll be sharing the actual images of the party with you afterward, but I thought you might enjoy a little sneak peak at the inspiration!

The plaid invites are an actual picture of what we sent out! My dearest MaeMae Paperie designed it just for us. That’s also an actual picture of the same wool blanket I found to cover our bar area. The furniture below is the actual selection we made from Found Vintage Rentals! And we really are having Room Forty create a fromage station (plus tons of other delish hors d’oeuvres). I’m still on the hunt for a perfect dress, but I found a really great plaid shirt/tie combo for Bryan. (Boys are so much easier to shop for! Lucky!). Can’t wait to see how it turns out! (I could definitely see this turned into wedding inspiration–oh how I love fall weddings!).

Did or would you have an engagement party? We’d love to hear how you celebrated (or plan to celebrate one day!).

We are starting off this week with an inspiration shoot that is perfect for those of you brides that are planning on (or considering!) eloping! We all know how stressful wedding planning can get, so if the romance of elopement is seductive to you, then I know you’ll adore this gorgeous wedding for two, shot by photographer Eric Kelley, with creative direction by Lora Kelly and styling by Mallory Joyce. We absolutely adore those florals by Vale of Enna and the stationery by one of our faves, MaeMae Paperie!

For those of you Chicago brides, be sure to take a good look at the venue of this shoot, Prairie Street Brewhouse, which is the perfect Urban location, with worn brick, white walls, and the perfect event space for creating any type of wedding you envision. Dream come true, no?
