Inspiration Shoots and Boards:
An Edgy, Modern Inspiration Shoot
photography by Heather Roth with styling by Katie Saeger Events
We’re totally crushing on this edgy + modern wedding shoot. So much, actually, that we’re thinking of redecorating the dining room to look just like it! And, as Heather Roth—fab photographer—explains below, that was exactly the point. The team of top-tier St. Louis wedding vendors joined forces to create an inspiration shoot that captures the contemporary couple. “We imagine this couple would want to create pieces that reflected them as a couple, as well as wedding-day remnants you’d see in their stylish home.” Yes, please. And the Livia Paul Paper stationery pieces? Well they’re just on a whole other level.
Heather Roth ofHeather Roth Fine Art Photography came toKatie Saeger Events with a vision to create a bold, edgy + modern, yet romantic wedding day editorial. We were inspired by the chic bride who loves high-fashion and is looking for something other than the traditional white wedding dress. For her, a metallic, mesh-pleated dress is what fit the bill! This is when the talented, fashion-forward designer,Emily Koplar of Wai Ming located in St. Louis, stepped in with her exclusive collections. We paired the looks with another St. Louis favorite –Fauxgerty, a faux leather jacket line. That cool jacket had us wanting to grab our man and ride off on a Vespa, with the wind blowing in our hair! Just be Cool. Hair + Makeup from Annie Heyward Style was a perfect complement to our vibe.
A contemporary wedding venue, Palladium, was the perfect space for this shoot. We loved the straight lines of the geometric geodes + triangles, and carried that through the plates, glassware and paper goods, keeping clean textures in our vignettes. We wanted the florals to be textured and light in color balance to stand out against the darker linens and colors of the shoot, adding a soft twist to the modern edge. Heather hand-painted the larger white vases with matte black, grays and gold detailing, consistent with our color scheme. The coordinating gold brush strokes with geometric gold studs on the ribbon of the bouquet was also one of our favorite accents.
The paper goods, designed byLivia Paul Paper, were a huge part of this shoot. We imagine this couple would want to create pieces that reflected them as a couple, as well as wedding-day remnants you’d see in their stylish home. Sophisticated (+ rad) prints + illustrations, using the couple’s python wedding monogram, playfully carry throughout the various elements in our vignettes. A python-embossed invitation suite with high gloss type treatment is sure to impress guests. They may just walk away remembering what Love is.
