Lady Brunette here! I am very excited to start sharing my wedding planning journey with all of you. My fiancé and I got engaged in December of 2012 and our wedding date is set for May 31, 2014. Why the long wait you may ask? My brother and his fiancée are getting married at the end of April and figured we would give them the year of 2013 and Mr. Brunette {shhh..don’t tell him that’s his new nickname} and I will take 2014.
Mr. B and I met in college, the day before our freshman year started to be exact, which would make us college sweethearts. Make sure to check out our full story here! During the day you can find me at my day job where I am a merchandise buyer but by night I moonlight as the style blogger behind The Brunette One. We love spending time with friends & family and have an insane obsession with movies, ballet (for me – I teach), hockey (for him), and of course, cheer on our alma mater, the Iowa Hawkeyes.
We are set to tie the knot in late spring of 2014. We live in the Midwest and our winters can often turn straight into summer, often skipping spring altogether. So we are hoping for warm weather, but not sweltering heat. Mr. B and I both come from large families and have many close friends {my mom is one of nine kids, he has 15 best guy friends, plus I was in a sorority} so any thoughts of a small wedding flew out the door immediately. We are opting for a traditional ceremony at our church followed by a reception at a venue space in my hometown.
As for the aesthetic of our day, the inspiration for our wedding comes from these images. Mr. B and I decided that I could tackle the decor and flowers and I immediately found myself set on a romantic & dreamy vibe. Navy with blush tones ( ivories, golds, & pale pinks). Envision peonies, anemone, ranunculus’ everywhere, with many, many candles.
Our biggest wish is for our friends and family to, by the end of the night, have everyone out of their chairs and on the dance floor. I am typically one of those wedding guests who stays on the dance floor – all-night-long. The Limbo, Macarena, Chicken Dance, Electric Slide, you name it, I know it and will be the first out on the floor to show you how it’s done. Mr. B isn’t always one to hit the dance floor with me, but at our reception his new Mrs. won’t be giving him much choice!
We are just beginning our planning process and can’t wait to share our journey with you as we plan the big day, the ups, downs, and hilarity in between!
