Let’s be honest, Pinterest can be overwhelming. I know I’ve lost hours of sleep simply because the page never ends! And bridal magazines seem like a great idea, until you realize they run you $8 a pop. So where’s a girl to turn for inspiration? Blogs? There are just so many!
Wouldn’t it be easier if you could get a few bursts of bridal brilliance worked into something you’re already doing? I think so, and so do a few great minds who share their work on Instagram. If you’re like me, you may or may not be on your Instagram in line at the coffee shop, waiting for a call, absentmindedly at the bar… basically all the time. Here a five of my personal favorite people to follow to give you just the right dose of inspiration.
Oh, Jose… I first crossed his path at a wedding I worked as a lowly intern, and have been in love with his work ever since. He shoots a lot in my area, and has a way of taking something mediocre (that lot of empty land by the road) and making it look magical. His command of light is incredible. Plus he travels the world so you might just get some honeymoon inspiration as well.
Okay, so technically a blog, the Once Wed team (Emily Newman & Joy Thigpen) know their insta-stuff. Shooting everything from entire venues to hangers and getaway cars, they run the gamut of wedding related images, and handle all of it with class and finesse. Romantic and chic, Once Wed nails all wedding-related Instagram can and should be.
Elizabeth Messina has a way of making me think weddings and wedding planning and – well – life should be simple and glamorous. And who doesn’t want that? Her photographs of couples portray a love so tangible you almost need to go grab your sweetheart and lay a big kiss on him or her right now. Dresses, flowers, trees, shoes, and babies. Basically, anything that’s good and beautiful in life you can find on Elizabeth Messina’s Instagram.
While blush, light, and pastels rule most wedding images these days, wedding style guide The LANE opts for richer, more lively hues. Cocktail rings and glitter are queen here, and decadence is the law of the land. The LANE reminds us, glitz and glamour = good.
Jen Huang had me at flower crown. But even if the thought of wrapping your face in petals doesn’t entice you, this page is more than worth the follow. Refusing to be defined by the square parameters of Instagram, Jen Huang’s photos are posted in their original size, which lends each image a refreshing austerity. Beauty, plain and simple, is glorified here.
What are your thoughts? What are you favorite wedding-worthy Instagrams? Or is Instagram too fleeting a format for true inspiration?
