Blackberry Thyme Styled Shoot

This gorgeous shoot from Whiskers and Willow Photography has us excited about all things winter. A desaturated color palette in textured florals by Blooms by Breesa Lee , a gathered tabletop design by So Much Fun Events  and some really, REALLY elegant calligraphy by Studio von Berg come together to create some beautiful “kinfolk-y” winter wedding inpiration. From the photographer + designer: Icy gusts of wind, howling and chattering through spindly trees, penetrate through coat and skin to bite at your bones. The long summer days, days of cold drinks, and laughter, and carefree frolics through fertile pastures, have become but a half-remembered dream, ever present, but out of reach. The arrival of winter brings many changes. But winter is not just about what has been lost. What is cold, and dark, and empty. For time immemorial, winter has also been a time to come together, with family, friends – the whole village, even – and celebrate the blessings and camaraderie that you cherished throughout the year, and that will help in surviving the frigid months to come. Winter is a time to break bread around a table. A time to pour a glass of wine and toast to a good year. A time to tell stories, and laugh, and cry. A time to cuddle with a loved one under a blanket, and listen to the gentle crackle of a fire, protecting you from the elements beyond.

The inspiration for this wedding shoot was to focus on the simplicity of gathering around a table for a meal. With a kinfolk-feel, we brought rich fruits and aromatic herbs together with simplistic bridal styling. A cozy faux-fur wrap completed the feeling of winter, as our bride snuggled up to her groom. Our palette was neutral, with rustic wood and linen, and we utilized the ebony hues of blackberries and purple of eggplant as the colors encapsulating the season. Blooms by Breesa Lee created aromatic floral arrangements, providing a wintery essence; and sprigs of rosemary and thyme, used in the wine bottle candleholders and throughout the surface, helped tie the design elements together.
