During a layover in San Francisco, en route to Greece, Nicole and Chris decided to tie the knot at City Hall. So already, you should know you are in for a big dose of romance in today’s post. Combine that with photos by Tyler Rye Photography and we’re just taking things to the next level. After their vows, the pair munched on pizza as their first meal, and then trekked down to the redwoods and the rocky beaches below for even more gorgeous photos. Afterward, they hopped on a plane for their honeymoon in Greece. Talk about absolute perfection.
What made the wedding special and unique?
We eloped! — I spend a lot of time planning beautiful events for work, so when the time came to plan my own wedding, I wasn’t as excited as I thought I would be. As time passed, and little headway was being made in the planning process, we decided to turn an upcoming vacation into the perfect way to say “I do.” During a layover in San Francisco, en route to Greece, we decided to tie the knot at city hall. Seven years to the day we met, it was unforgettably romantic.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I fell in love with a dress I could not find anywhere, so I was desperate to recreate it. Luckily, I happened upon Shin Bu Bridal in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Seo were as excited to create the dress as I was to have it made, which is evident in the overall design and detail they put into the final product. It was fascinating to see the dress come together little by little and also fun to get to know such a lovely and talented couple in the process.
What were some touches added to make it personal?
When we determined we were going to elope, despite our best efforts to keep it a secret, there were some people that caught on. In my case it was my coworkers and a few close friends. Knowing that they wouldn’t be there in person, everyone wanted to contribute somehow and before I knew it I had people lending me jewelry, hairpieces and accessories galore. It was incredible to look in the mirror and see little reminders of all the love and support we had that day.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
At the end of the day, when all was said and done, we were starving. So before going back to the hotel, I threw a sweatshirt on over my dress and we walked to Zero Zero, a local pizza place. We grabbed some seats at the bar and quietly enjoyed our first meal as a married couple. No one had any idea we had just tied the knot and it was so nice to just sit there and be in the moment together.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
Even now, as a married couple, I consider Chris to be one of my best friends. I believe we are drawn to people who are reminiscent of those we hold most dear in our lives, so it makes perfect sense to me that we met at our mutual friends engagement party. After meeting that night, everything else just fell into place.
